Course Description
EMGT 806: Finance for Engineers
A study of finance including financial planning and management in technological based organizations. Topics covered include financial statement analysis, present value of financial markets, capital budgeting, taxes, investment decisions, replacement decisions, cash flow budgets and sources of capital.

Objectives
- After completing this course the student should be able to:
- Discuss the roles and goals of financial management
- Interpret and analysis financial statements
- Perform discounted cash flow calculations
- Determine the value of bonds
- Evaluate capital budgets using net present value and other investment criteria
- Analyze capital budgeting alternatives
- Understand and evaluate the tradeoffs between risk and return
- Determine cost of capital
- Calculate financial leverage and evaluate alternative capital structures
- Prepare short-term financial plans and plans for working capital management
